{"id":19,"date":"2017-04-16T20:31:32","date_gmt":"2017-04-16T20:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fred-hart.de\/rheinland2017\/?p=19"},"modified":"2017-05-06T13:45:49","modified_gmt":"2017-05-06T13:45:49","slug":"intro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fred-hart.de\/rheinland2017\/2017\/04\/16\/intro\/","title":{"rendered":"Fred&#8217;s German Road Trip 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>This weekend I made the Eurotunnel reservation as it is now only 4 weeks until the start of my 2017 German Road Trip.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After several test runs &#8211; driving to Belgium and to the Netherlands &#8211; I really am going long distance now and I hope this will be the start of many years of motoring around Germany, trying to visit as many areas as possible.<\/p>\n<p>For 9 days in May, I will be visiting the German Rheinland, going to some of the places I went to on my first visit to Germany <strong>11 years ago<\/strong> as well as many new places.<\/p>\n<p>My brief itinerary is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Day 1<\/strong> <strong>Fairford to Bruges*<\/strong> Leaving from work at 17:00, I&#8217;ll head straight to the Channel Tunnel. Aiming to get to check-in between 20:30 and 21:00, for a 22:20 train which will get me in to Calais for 23:55 (local time). Should be arriving in Bruges by 01:30 Saturday morning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 2<\/strong> <strong>Bruges to Genk<\/strong> in Belgian Limburg, via Meise Botanical Garden near Brussels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 3 Genk to Boppard<\/strong> via Br\u00fchl &#8211; Augustusberg &amp; Falkenlust Palaces.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 4 <\/strong>Day trips to Koblenz \/ Cochem.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 5 <\/strong><strong>Boppard to Mainz<\/strong> via R\u00fcdesheim &#8211; car ferry across the river<\/li>\n<li><strong>Day 6 <\/strong>Day trip to Hockenheim F1 Race Track in nearby Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg.
