Guten Abend! I’ve set off on this year’s road trip to Germany a day early and have stopped overnight near Maidstone, ready for a short drive to Dover ahead of my ferry crossing tomorrow.
Today I stopped off at Chartwell, a country house near Westerham which was owned by Winston Churchill from 1922 until he died in 1965.
This week still being half term it was very busy and by the time I got to the front of the queue to get in, there were no more tickets to go inside the house – but I did still manage to enjoy the gardens, so it was still a good way to break the journey.
This evening I drove in to Maidstone for Nandos (my usual order!) and I’ve just set my alarm for the morning; I’m aiming to leave here by 6 to drive down to Dover.
Photos from my day below – with a photo of some roses taken especially for Anne-Marie, Sophie & Naomi. <3
Good night!
FH.
