VIDEO: A Tour of the Cottage: Anjas Ferienhaus

This weekend I stayed in a slightly different style of accommodation than I normally would.

Forget the small city hotel I stayed at in Munich, or the large chain hotel I stayed at in Berlin; this time is was in a self-catering cottage in a residentual area (St. Georgen) of Freiburg.

Anjas Ferienhaus, owned by Heikki and Ingeborg Mäkinen who live in the house next door, is a self-catering cottage surrounded by a small garden and outside decking area.

From the Ferienhaus it is just a few minutes walk up to Basler Landstraße to the bus stop named ‘Am Mettweg‘, opposite the OBI store.

From there, bus line 14 takes you straight in to the centre of Freiburg in 25-30 minutes. You can disembark at Eschholzstraße and walk up to the central railway station; or go through to the end of the bus line at Siegesdenkmal and be right on the edge of the pedestrianised Altstadt (old town).

Within walking distance in the immediate area you’ll find many bakeries, restaurants in St. Georgen, and an Edeka supermarket. In the Summer months an outdoor pool – Freibad St. Georgen – is just down the road.

Here are a few photos of the cottage so you can see where I was staying… – and if you want to book the accommodation and visit this corner of Germany, you can find the accommodation on booking.com.
